Celebration of India's 76th Republic Day
SJanuary 26, a beacon that transformed the dreams of an independent India into reality
through the constitutional democratic republic, was meaningfully celebrated at St. Aloysius
International School and Pre-University College, located on the outskirts of the city.
The event was presided over by the institution's director, Reverend Father Eric Mathias SJ,
who emphasized the importance of upholding the core principles of democracy and treating
the constitution, which ensures equal rights and opportunities for all, with the utmost respect.v
The chief guest, Mr. Nagappa, a retired Subedar of the Indian Army, highlighted the
importance of national unity amidst diversity. He encouraged everyone to abide by the spirit
of the constitution and contribute to the nation in their unique ways.
Another guest of honor, Mr. Mallikarjun Rudrappa Halageri, a progressive farmer and
social-political leader, expressed that the true essence of freedom and democracy is realized
through good leadership by representatives. He assured that India has a bright future if
today's children receive quality education and develop into cultured citizens.
Renowned social and political leader Mr. Ittigudi Manjunath addressed the students, urging
them to hold the nation built on the sacrifices of great leaders and elders in the highest regard
and always remain ready to serve the country.
The dignitaries were escorted to the stage with an NCC honor guard and a flag salute by
various student groups. The event commenced with a multi-faith prayer, followed by the flag
hoisting ceremony, paying tribute to the nation, and floral offerings to portraits of Mahatma
Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Students Ayansh, Abdul Ahad Khan, and Chinnan Gowda delivered speeches reflecting on
India's journey of democracy over the past 76 years and their dreams for the nation's future.
During the occasion, students who excelled in competitions conducted at the school level and
those who displayed exemplary values were honored. The college principal, Mrs.
Pushpalatha Urs; school principal, Sister Shanti David; vice-principals Mr. Mousin Ullah
and Mr. Pascal Fernandes; program coordinator Mr. Manjunath L.S.; and student
representatives of the institution were present on the stage.
College Kannada lecturer Mr. Abdul Rehman introduced and felicitated the distinguished
guests. School student Vishal welcomed the guests, while Ujwala Patil and Remiel anchored
the event, and Kumari Lekhashree proposed the vote of thanks.
Cultural programs, including patriotic songs, dances, and performances, added special charm
to the celebration. The active participation of the institution's staff ensured the success of the
Republic Day celebration.
