72 nd Republic Day Celebration
The inactive college campus seemed back to its normal self after the pandemic effects
as the enthusiastic staff, students and the management of St Aloysius PU College witnessed
the most beautiful twin celebrations in the form of 72 nd Republic Day and the Investiture and
oath taking ceremony of the newly elected students' president and the students
representatives for the various associations of the college. The energetic and colourful
programme was held in the college premises at 9am.
The programme began with the welcoming of the special guests of the programme. Chief
guest Mr. Prakash Director of Deccan Herald and Prajawani - Davangere along with Fr. Eric
Mathias SJ - director of the college, Mr Sunny Gudinho - principal, Mrs. Pushpalatha Urs
and Ms. Princy Flavia Pinto - Vice-principals and Ms. Al Jesina Ms. Diksha Naik co-
ordinators were present on the dais. The students, staff and the management took part in the
most awaited, first public celebration of the college for the academic year 2020-21. It was
unique for many reasons and was a spectacle.
The whole programme was well-tailored and had a good mixture of interesting events such as
dance, speeches, play and singing performed by the students of the college.
The NCC cadets escorted the chief guest Mr. Prakash and the other guests to the beautifully
decorated stage. The gathering welcomed the guests with jubilant applause. The chief-guest
was then invited to hoist the flag to commemorate the 72 nd Republic Day celebration after
which the National anthem was sung by the august gathering with real patriotic gusto. The
inter-religious prayer led by the students gave the perfect start for the programme followed by
lighting of the lamp by the guests. The students welcomed the guests and the gathering by
their graceful dance and Ms. Varsha the second PUC students expressed it by well-tailored
words. The patriotic song awoke us from the slumber and gave us proud feeling for being
Indians.
The chief-guest Mr. Prakash was then felicitated as our mark of respect. Later the students
who achieved great feet and the distinction holders of our college in the year 2019-20 were
also felicitated during the programme.
The students' president elect along with other council members and leaders of various
associations and students' representatives were initiated into their respective offices after the
oath taking ceremony.
The chief-guest of the programme spoke at length and enumerated the distinct qualities of our
nation, enthused and encouraged our students to be pro-active in contributing generously
towards building a better nation for everyone. He also encouraged them to dream and to have
the courage to achieve it. The dance and the skit performed by our students were the highlight
of the programme as they were entertaining and educative on constitutional rights of every
individual and the current burning farmers' issues.
The college principal was highly appreciative of the students' various performances on-stage
and off-stage. He also acknowledged the hard work put up by all the teaching and non-
teaching staff members towards such a wonderful event. He also made the students aware of
the current issues of our nation by sighting examples of unjust treatments meted to those who
strive to work for truth and stand by truth. The programme was concluded with the vote of
thanks by the programme anchor Mr Khushi, the 1 st year PUC student.
Students helped in re-arranging of the things and they were distributed sweets before they left
the college.
