Students leadership programme which was held on 1 st and 2 nd September 2023 At St. Aloysious Mangalore

On August 31st at 2 PM, 62 student council members (34 girls and 28 boys) and two staff members commenced their journey from Harihar to St. Aloysius Gonzaga College in Mangalore to attend the "Nourishing Young Leaders" workshop. We arrived at our destination at 10:45 PM, where we were warmly welcomed by Rev. Dr. Fr. Kiran Coth SJ. Following our arrival, we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and retired to our already prepared rooms in Gonzaga hostel.

Friday, September 1, 2023 - Day 1
Inauguration: 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Rev. Dr. Fr. Melwin Pinto SJ, the Manager of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Mangalore, Rev. Dr. Rajani, Dean of the Commerce department, Rev. Dr. (Fr.) Kiran Coth SJ, Dr. Annette Maben, Dr. Poulami, Prof. Divya Pereira, and Prof. Gowthami. Dr. Annette Maben extended a warm welcome, and all the faculty members and two student representatives lit the ceremonial lamp. Rev. Dr. Fr. Melwin Pinto and Rev. Dr. Fr. Kiran Coth SJ delivered inspiring speeches for the two-day workshop, and Dr. Poulami expressed gratitude during the inauguration meeting.

Session-1
10:00 AM - 11:15 AM: "COMMUNICATING LIKE A LEADER"
Facilitators: Dr. Annette Maben, Administrative Support: Dr. Poulami
This session introduced various leaders with distinct qualities, such as Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Narendra Modi, Malala, etc., and explored leadership qualities through interactive activities.

Session-2
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM: "MANAGING CONFLICT AND PROMOTING COOPERATION"
Facilitator: Prof. Divya Pereira, Administrative Support: Prof. Gowthami
This session covered three types of conflict: interpersonal, intrapersonal, and intergroup conflicts, providing insights on conflict management through activities and storytelling.

Session-3
2:00 PM - 3:15 PM: "DECISION MAKING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING"
Facilitator: Prof. Ravi Kudtarkar, Administrative Support: Dr. Annette Sonia Maben
The session emphasized decision-making and problem-solving through a framework of five key questions.

Session-4
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM: "TIME MANAGEMENT FOR BETTER LEADERSHIP OUTCOMES"

Facilitators: Prof. Gowthami & Dr. Poulami
This session addressed common time-wasting activities and offered tips for effective time management. A notable technique involved prioritizing challenging tasks first, demonstrated through a balancing balloon activity.

At 5:45 PM on the first day, we visited the seashore and enjoyed a serene sunset. We returned at 7:00 PM, prepared for dinner, and had a delightful meal.

Saturday, September 2, 2023 - Day 2
Session-5
9:00 AM - 10:15 AM: "EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP SKILLS"
Facilitator: Rev. Dr. (Fr.) Kiran Coth
Effective leadership skills were imparted through engaging money games. Key qualities emphasized included self-awareness, heroism, ingenuity, and love.

Session-6
10:30 AM - 11:45 AM: "NEGOTIATION FOR RESOLVING SIMPLE AND COMPLEX CHALLENGES"
Session in Charge: Prof. Divya Pereira, Facilitator: Prof. Vinay Krishna
This session explored the art of negotiation, adapting negotiation strategies for different situations

VALEDICTORY: 12:00 PM - 12:20 PM
Program conductors distributed evaluation forms to students, who shared their thoughts on the workshop. We concluded the program with a delicious lunch, followed by visits to Shri Mariamma Temple, St. Aloysius Gonzaga College main campus, and a museum. Rev. Fr. Derrick SJ sponsored a grand tea for us at the ladies' hostel. Later, we went to Panambur Beach, returning to Gonzaga hostel at 7:30 PM. After freshening up, we enjoyed a grand dinner.

On September 3rd, Sunday, at 6 AM, we returned to Harihar after a memorable and enriching workshop experience.
