Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at St Aloysius College Harihar to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi. The chief guests for the day were
Mr. Siddappa Hosmane, Mr. Sunny Gudhino Principal of PU College, Mrs Pushpalatha Urs Vice Principal and Fr Pradeep Sequeira finance officer. The program began at 9am with a special
tribute to Gandhiji. A devotional ambience prevailed as the programme started with interreligious prayer by college choir team and readings from three holy books. Master of the
ceremony Shallen Infanta invited all the staff members to offer flowers. Shivraj from Ist B. Com shared the anecdotes from Gandhiji's life which inspired all the students and
encouraged them to think about the simple livings of Gandhiji. The chief Guest for the day Artist Siddappa Hosmane received standing Ovation from the audience for the great
speech he delivered and also for the songs which he sang. The choir team sang patriotic song which created patriotic atmosphere. Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ distributed the prize
to the winners of March past in the sports Day. The first prize was secured by IInd PUC Science students and second prize was shared by 1st PCMB 'A' and Ist PCMB 'B' section. He congratulated all the winners and in the Presidential Address he upheld the values of Gandhiji and highlighted the sacrifice he made for the country. Students of B.com Performed a Mime on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Emcee Shallen delivered the vote of thanks.
The outreach programme began at 11;30am from the college. Students along with the staff members visited Jai Bheemnagar, Harihar for Shramadana. The people were overwhelmed and welcomed the students with their open hearts. Students along with Staff members cleaned the roads as well as the house premises. All the students were enthusiastic to do the work. It created a sense of unity among the students and also highlighted team work. Everybody worked as a team in order to achieve the goal and finally they succeeded. They proved that not even the hot sun can take away their dedication. Sweets was distributed to the students and the programme ended at 1 pm.
