Faculty Development Program

The faculty development programme took place at St Aloysius PU College, Harihar for two days from 30th May to 31st May 2023.

On the 30th of May, the programme began at 9.00 AM with an introduction by Sr. Rose James, from the faculty of the English department. Miss. Jyothy Gupta, the cultural coordinator and a faculty in the English department led everyone into prayer. Thereafter Miss. Sindhu SB, a faculty from the Commerce Department welcomed the gathering. Miss. Sushmita Rachel, facilitated the resource persons of the programme, namely Rev. Fr. Ronald Pius SJ, the Superior of Asha Kiran Mangalore, and Rev. Fr. Felix Victor SJ, the campus minister of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore. Rev. Fr. Eric Mathias, the Director of St. Aloysius PU College, and Rev. Fr. Vinod AJ SJ, the faculty member Biology department, principal Mrs. Pushpalatha Urs, Mr. Baptist Sunny Gudino, the former principal and newly appointed Dean of the Science department, Mr.Mouseen Ulla, the vice principal of the Commerce and Arts department, Mr. Pascal Fernandes, the newly appointed vice principal of the Science department were present to honour the resource persons. Thereafter Fr. Mathias gave a warm introduction about the resource persons and explained the purpose of this faculty development program and welcomed everyone wholeheartedly.

Rev. Fr. Ronald Pius conducted sessions based on the Emotional well-being of teachers. The classes were very interesting with different activities and it helped all the faculty members to prepare themselves to be an effective teacher.

Rev. Fr. Felix Victor conducted classes based on the "seven habits of effective teachers" and also emotional first aid for teachers. He conducted classes with great enthusiasm with different activities. Indeed, they are very profitable for all the faculty members to be effective teachers and leaders.

The faculty development program ended on 31st May with a Validatory program. It was well organized by the co-ordinator Mr. Nagesh, the faculty member from the Economics department. This programme began with a prayer by Mrs. Shameem Banu, faculty member from the Hindhi department. Thereafter, Rev. Fr. Eric Mathias gave a brief summary of the works of former principal and appreciated the work done by Mr. Baptist Sunny Gudino for the welfare of the college. Fr Mathias introduced the newly appointed principal Mrs. Pushpalatha Urs with lots of memories. She has been teaching in the college for the last 18 years as a faculty and a vice principal of the Science department. The handing-over ceremony was conducted between the outgoing principal and incoming principal. Fr Avinash Lobo took over as the new finance officer from Fr. Vinod. And all of them were honoured in the presence of management and academic team.
