Empowering Youth for Societal Contribution:St. Aloysius College's Dynamic NSS Special Camp 2023-24
St. Aloysius College, Amaravati, Harihar, organized the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit's Annual Special Camp Inauguration Ceremony at Harappanahalli, held from December 26, 2023, to January 2, 2024.
In the pursuit of fostering leadership and personality development among the youth and encouraging active contributions to environmental, water, language, and cultural preservation for national development, the NSS Unit of St. Aloysius College conducted its annual special camp at Nirmala High School in Harapanahalli.
The inauguration was conducted by Father Eric Mathias SJ, the college's Director, and attended by Mrs. Ellamma, a member of the Harapanahalli Municipal Council. Rev. Father Arun Veneil D'Silva, the District Youth Coordinator at Nirmala Matha Church, was the chief guest, emphasizing the significance of such camps in fostering fraternity and instilling values to overcome societal challenges.
On the event stage, Sister Selvi, Lab Technician at the Health Center, Nirmala Matha, Sister Arogya Mary, Principal of Nirmala High School, Father Avinash Lobo SH, Finance Officer of the College, and NSS Unit coordinators Mr. Prajwal and Ms. Sanjana Fernandes were present. NSS participants received NSS T-shirts during the ceremony.
Motivational speeches were delivered by event authorities Mr. Gajendra P. R. and Mr. Abdul Rahman to NSS participants. Kumari Jyothi Gupta, the distinguished guest, was welcomed by the program coordinators. The NSS Program Officer, Mr. Abdul Rahman, concluded the event and expressed his gratitude.
St. Aloysius College, Haripar, achieved great success in celebrating the annual special camp of the NSS, with Haripar as the chosen location. The week-long camp involved 50 NSS volunteers from the college, engaging in activities such as sanitation work, cleaning the surroundings of the village temple, repairing the water channel, improving the local primary school's playground, and conducting various awareness programs on plastic waste, environmental conservation, education, and health.
The camp received accolades from officials and authorities, acknowledging the students' dedication to community service and their impactful initiatives.
